Overflow Ministries with Rebecca Nix

Motivational Speaker- Christian Women's and Community Events

For over twenty years, Rebecca Nix has ministered hope to women through her ability to communicate God’s Word with depth, love and grace. Her wit and transparent style appeal to women of every age, and they are encouraged through the humorous and practical nature of her teaching.

Rebecca’s desire to study and share God’s Word was ignited many years ago when, through a series of simultaneously tragic and miraculous event, she experienced God in a way she previously had not. She promised God that if He would just open the doors, she would be faithful to walk through them, telling others what He has done for her, and what she knows He desires to do for them as well. And in His faithful style, the Lord has been doing just that ever since.

Rebecca is a graduate of C.L.A.S.S. speaker services and is a fifteen- year veteran of Stone Croft’s Christian Women’s Connection. She speaks at women’s events in all evangelical, Bible-believing settings across the country.

Rebecca and her husband Michael have been married for more than thirty years. They serve the Lord together at Dolen Baptist Church in Cleveland, Texas, where he is senior pastor and she plays the piano and teaches an adult Bible Study class. They have three grown children, one daughter-in-love, and two precious grandchildren.

Statement of Faith

I believe that in the Christian faith, although there may be differences in the way people “do” church, if we can agree on the following points, then we are one in the Body of Christ and one in the Bond of His love.

  • ONE God:  I believe in ONE God, existing in three persons- God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  Though the word “Trinity” is never expressly used in Scripture, the idea of the triune God is portrayed throughout the Bible, beginning as early as Genesis 1:26, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness…” and seen at such events as the baptism of Jesus (Matthew 3: 16-17), where the Father and the Holy Spirit blessed the obedience of the Son.
  • ONE Book:  I believe that the Bible is the Holy, inerrant Word of God, penned by men through the inspiration and direction of the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16).  It is living and active, (Hebrews 4:12), a powerful weapon against the enemy, and an essential component of the armor of God (Ephesians 6:17).   If one desires to know God, His Word is the best place to start.  Furthermore, the Bible is the ultimate authority of our lives and the measuring rod of right and wrong.  There is no “addendum” to the Bible, and trying to create one is a dangerous thing (Revelation 22:18-19).
  • ONE Hope:  I believe in the hope of eternal life that comes through an active faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8).  By active faith I refer to one who is a doer of the Word and not a hearer only (James 1:22-25), and upon such hope we may build our lives (Hebrews 6:19, 10:23)..
  • ONE Way:  I believe there is ONE way to heaven, and that is through Jesus Christ (John 14:6).  I believe that Jesus is the Son of God (Matthew 3:17) and is God Himself in the flesh (God incarnate) (John 1:1-5, 14; Colossians 1:15-20).  He is the sacrificial lamb, the perfect, spotless, sinless substitute who paid the penalty of sin for us (Romans 6:23).  I believe He died, was buried and raised to life again (I Corinthians 15:2-5), so that by His blood we can stand, forgiven, in the presence of the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:21).  Furthermore, I believe that the beauty of knowing “The Way” is that one does not have to wait until heaven to enjoy its benefits.  Walking in relationship with Jesus gives us fullness of life here on earth (John 10:10), and in In Him we have life, hope, joy and peace.
  • ONE Destination:  I believe that we are all immortal, spiritual beings that will exist eternally in one of two places- either heaven or hell.  Both are real places, and the decision each individual makes about Jesus while on earth determines in which ONE of those destinations, he or she will spend that eternity. No one “earns” a place in heaven (2 Timothy 1:9), and no one “earns” a way out of hell.  There is no Purgatory.  To say “yes” to Jesus is to choose life with Him; to reject Jesus is to choose hell (Revelation 20 15, 21:6-8).

While this is by no means an exhaustive list of everything I believe about God, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit, it is a statement, in a nutshell, of the core beliefs I feel should unite all Believers.  While churches may have differing opinions on worship styles, baptismal practices, the taking of communion and so forth, agreement on these five things should create a body of Believers, united in The ONE.
